IoT-Based Earthing Health Monitoring and Alert System
摘要
An efficient earthing system is of utmost importance for electrical safety in industrial and residential areas. Periodic inspection enhances the performance of earthing systems, but that is of no help for instantaneous abnormalities. In this paper, a smart earthing monitoring system based on the ZMPT101B voltage sensor, an ESP8266 microcontroller, and a relay module is introduced to detect and act upon earthing faults. The earthing voltage is monitored continuously, with threshold value set to approximately 3 V. Once the learned value for voltage exceeds this limit, it is considered that a fault has occurred. In this case, the microcontroller drives a relay to isolate the circuit and sends real-time notifications to users via an app. With the IoT monitoring the system, the solution increases safety and reduces the maintenance cost while taking a proactive approach regarding the detection of earth faults. Experimental results indicate that the system can effectively detect faults with a minimum amount of latency, thus increasing its viability for both industrial and residential applications.
