Zero-Waste and Economic Recovery in Agriculture
摘要
This chapter explores the growing global challenge of waste generation linked to population growth, economic development, and technological progress. It highlights the environmental and socio-economic impacts of inefficient waste management and the urgent need for sustainable solutions. Drawing on global and national data, such as Mexico’s high levels of solid waste production, the chapter emphasizes the relevance of adopting zero-waste strategies. It introduces the concept of zero waste as a circular approach to resource use, aiming to eliminate waste through responsible production, consumption, and recovery practices. Within agriculture, zero-waste principles offer innovative pathways for enhancing resource efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and fostering economic resilience, positioning sustainable agricultural practices as key drivers of ecological and economic recovery.
