Liang Zongdai, Symboliste Self-Translator
摘要
Though practically all Republican authors were concerned, broadly speaking, with the evolution and reform of Chinese belles lettres, and though all confronted a ‘continual influx of Western influences’, they did not all consult the same models, nor were they striving towards similar goals. Self-translation was one tool among many, and it served the whole spectrum of conservative and radical groups in Republican China, of schools and factions aligned with different political and literary models.
