摘要
The wellbeing at school is crucial for societies development since the future generations spend the most important years of their development at school, following the educational policies rules, interacting with teachers and other school staffs. School wellbeing could be the nest for the best start in life for many children, especially for those prone to social exclusion due to different difficulties. The European policies emphasize the importance of wellbeing in schools and there are recommendations at the European level that address these issues including the European Commission’s Education and training 2020 framework and the Council of Europe’s Reference framework of the Competences for Democratic Culture. The main lines to be followed in this chapter describe the European proposal for promoting wellbeing such as recommendations for physical activities, addressing students’ mental health, supporting professional development for teachers, nurturing the inner life of teachers, promoting positive school culture, integrating technology to support wellbeing. The South-Eastern European region is characterized by some peculiarities and challenges and we try to point it out showing the necessity of addressing the school wellbeing. The chapter will provide an overview upon the main educational and health policies at the European level significant for school wellbeing. The emerged challenges will be discussed and recommendations and suggestions will be provided for educational policies focused on promoting wellbeing at school.
