Transition to Primary School: Croatia
摘要
This chapter provides an overview of educational policies and transition research in the Republic of Croatia in the past 25 years. Educational policy recognises the issues surrounding transitions in its documents but does not offer strategies to ensure quality transitions. Research has been analysed from three aspects of transition: transition as readiness for school; transition as change; and continuity in transitions. Overall, there is a lack of systematic research that could advance transition practices with its conclusions. In response to the challenges of transition, publications focusing on supporting all participants in this process have emerged. Publications providing an overview of practices indicate that there are quality and innovative transition practices in Early Childhood Education [ECE] and primary schools based on effective collaboration. More focused research is needed to explore these in-depth and develop specific approaches to ensure continuity in the transition process.
