This chapter critically reviews transitions to school research in Scotland, in itself a country in transition. The responsibility for the provision of education and care in Scotland lies with the Scottish Parliament, its civil service, and the 32 Scottish council areas. The first quarter of the twenty-first century has brought consistent, significant, and incremental educational policy change foregrounding how early learning and childcare is conceived, how curriculum is designed and implemented, and what is advocated pedagogically for practice as essential concerns. The chapter is organised in four parts: the Scottish context; Scottish twenty-first century transitions to school research; derivative policy and practices; and principles and recommendations.

摘要
