This chapter examines the developments and shortcomings in the transition to pre-primary education and primary school in Türkiye between 2000 and 2024. Türkiye has taken important steps towards promoting transition to school, but the lack of legal regulations and structural disconnects between pre-primary and primary school continue to complicate the transition process. That pre-primary education is not compulsory, combined with the early age of entry into primary school, creates the risk that especially disadvantaged children will experience transition before they are ready. This chapter draws attention to increasing school transition policies which aim to eliminate barriers to school transition, advocating for processes spread over the longer term and carried out in cooperation with schools, families, and teachers. In this context, it is expected to make important contributions to policy development to improve preschool and primary school transition processes in Türkiye.

摘要
