Emerging Pollutants/Contaminants (EPs/ECs) in the Environment: An Overview
摘要
Emerging pollutants (EPs)/Emerging contaminants (ECs) are a diverse group of unregulated pollutants increasingly present in the environmental surrounds. These are incorporated together natural & synthetic chemicals compounds that are current or converted to new chemical compounds in environment like ground water, drinking water, surface water, stream water, municipal wastewater and food source across the world. These contaminants include pharmaceuticals, personal care products (PCPs), endocrine-disrupting compounds, analgesics, antibiotics, hormones and industrial compounds that can move in the environment through numerous pathways and persist, accruing in the food chain and possessed a serious health effect on human and ecosystem as well as environmental effects. This chapter focuses on the classification of different groups including pharmaceuticals compounds and personal care products (PCPs), among others classes. The possible sources, path routes and their health impacts on human are discussed. The present of Eps and ECs in our environments is worldwide problem that needs urgent attention by implementing these solutions for capability to detecting, monitoring and managing of Eps & ECs, are reduced in environmental and public health risks.
