Depolarization in Religion and Ethics: A Perspective from the Social Sciences
摘要
This paper intends to consider three major aspects of polarization in religion and ethics, with the intent of better understanding how this type of extremist positioning is displayed in the social arena, how it can be critically deconstructed and, finally, what are the means—if any—through which it can be de-potentialized. Polarization of opinion and ideas seems to represent, in fact, one of the big challenges of contemporary complex societies, because it fosters one-sided nature of social, political and economic discourses, enhancing conflicts and social disorders.
