In recent years, text mining has received more and more attention in exploring residents’ feelings and opinions. This study applies text analysis, word cloud, and econometric modelling technologies. It uses 1059 government work reports on the topic of “happiness” and 9861 questionnaires to investigate the effects of urban residents’ characteristics on their happiness in China’s top three city clusters, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao. The results show that (1) women are happier than men, (2) education level and good relations positively influence our happiness, and (3) a night person seems less happy than a morning person. In addition, the “time to bed” factor negatively affects chronic and divorce factors, especially in the southern areas.

摘要
