In this chapter we propose the use of school gardens to foster children’s knowledge and appreciation of insect biodiversity. We first present a theoretical framework on the subject by reflecting on insect diversity and its importance, then present some measures that can be taken in an educational garden to promote insect diversity, and finally specify which insects can be found in a school garden, based on their functional classification (pollinator, phytophagous, etc.). The second part of the chapter describes a recent educational project that was carried out in the Organic Learning Garden of the Faculty of Education of Soria (University of Valladolid, Spain) with 8-year-old children. It was based on the use of scientific drawing to promote detailed observation and learning about the morphology and diversity of insects.

摘要
