Pregnancy introduces unique physiological changes that increase the risk for cardiovascular emergencies. This chapter focuses on the management of three significant and potentially devastating conditions in pregnant patients: venous thromboembolism, aortic dissection, and peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM). It explores the risk factors, clinical presentations, risk stratification, and specific management strategies for these life-threatening situations. Diagnosing cardiovascular emergencies can be challenging due to overlapping symptoms among different pathologies and the similarity of early symptoms to normal pregnancy changes. This chapter aims to highlight subtle differences in presentation to facilitate prompt and accurate identification of these complications. Additionally, it discusses the management of each condition, including a detailed evaluation of specific pharmaceutical agents and their safety and efficacy during pregnancy.
