In Batman Begins, Bruce Wayne has an encounter with Rachel Dawes when he first arrives back in Gotham City. Caught philandering, Bruce tries to convince Rachel that he is more than what appears on the outside, that there is more to him on the inside. A disappointed Rachel responds with, “It’s not who you are underneath. It’s what you do that defines you.”
