Pedro Almodóvar’s film Talk to Her (Hable con Ella) depicts the lives of two men brought together by women in comas. Benigno, a dedicated nurse, cares for Alicia, a ballet student in a vegetative state, and firmly believes in the power of communication. He meets Marco, a journalist whose bullfighter girlfriend is a patient in the same hospital. A strong friendship develops between them. The plot takes a dramatic turn when Alicia is discovered to be pregnant by Benigno, leading to his imprisonment. Benigno later commits suicide in prison. Following his death, Alicia awakens from her coma. The awakining of Alicia is attributed to the excellent care she received by Benigno.
