Utilizing Information Sharing to Boost Sustainability in Logistics Operations
摘要
The logistics industry is vital to the global economy, facing the challenge of balancing sustainability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. With growing demand for logistics services, it is essential to adopt practices that reduce environmental impact while improving operational performance. Information-sharing technologies like real-time tracking, online routing systems, and online warehousing management are key to enhancing sustainability in logistics. These technologies optimize resource allocation, reduce fuel consumption, speed up deliveries, and lower operational costs, contributing to both environmental sustainability and customer satisfaction. This study explores how these technologies advance sustainability in logistics, focusing on their effects on operational efficiency, environmental performance, and customer satisfaction. Data was collected from 70 logistics companies across urban and semi-urban regions in India to evaluate the impact of these technologies. The study's objectives include assessing the role of real-time tracking in efficiency and sustainability, analyzing the influence of online routing on delivery performance and cost reduction, examining the role of warehousing systems in inventory accuracy, and understanding their contribution to reducing carbon emissions. The findings show that these technologies significantly improve efficiency, customer satisfaction, and environmental sustainability, confirming their importance in fostering a sustainable logistics sector.
