In this chapter, we focus on the theory and application of the radiation detectors used in radiography, fluoroscopy, mammography, and patient dosimetry. Detection mechanisms, detector features, applications, and limitations are included. Mechanisms of solid-state for direct detection, scintillators and indirect detectors, ion chambers, and photostimulable phosphors are also included.
