Kilovoltage x-ray beams are widely used in medical physics for both imaging and therapeutic purposes. It is important that these x-ray beams are well characterized to ensure safe and consistent use in the clinic. This includes an accurate knowledge of the radiation doses delivered by these x-ray units. This chapter provides an overview of the contemporary methods and equipment required for the dosimetry of kilovoltage x-ray beams.
