Multi Skill Resource Constrained Project Scheduling Problem with Sustainable Considerations

This study examines the Multi-Skill Resource-Constrained Project Scheduling Problem (MSRCPSP) with sustainability, targeting the minimisation of Total Labour Cost (TLC), Total Energy Consumption (TEC) and Ergonomic Risks exposure. Spatial constraints are considered to manage workforce density. A mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model is developed using a continuous-time formulation. Two approaches are used to solve the multi-objective problem: the Adaptive ε-Constraint Method (AECM) and the Weighted Sum Method (WSM). Experiments on a case study from a modified RCPSP dataset resulted in 94 non-dominated solutions, showing the methods’ effectiveness. The study highlights trade-offs between economic, environmental, and social objectives, emphasising the need for a balanced decision-making.
