This paper presents the development and implementation of an advanced legal consultation system, “Ask a Lawyer,” powered by large language models (LLMs). The system is designed to provide accurate and efficient legal advice by analysing and interpreting natural language queries. Leveraging OpenAI's language models and a robust vector database of legal documents, the system facilitates precise information retrieval and delivers reliable legal guidance. The architecture integrates a question-answer mechanism that retains user interactions, enabling context-aware responses. The study evaluates the system's performance against functional and non-functional requirements, demonstrating its capability to handle diverse legal queries with high accuracy and speed. The potential for future enhancements, including database expansion and multilingual capabilities, is explored. The findings suggest that the system significantly improves the accessibility and efficiency of legal services, offering a competitive edge in the market for innovative legal technologies. This study demonstrates the significant potential of LLMs in transforming legal services and underscores the need for further research to fully realize its benefits.
