Functional neurological disorder may present with different symptom semiology, one of which resembles chronic tics. These functional tic-like behaviors (FTLBs) have specific clinical features that allow for their distinction from chronic tics, even in patients who present with comorbid chronic tics and FTLBs. Treatment of FTLBs starts with prompt identification and differentiation of FTLBs from chronic tics so that the patient can understand the difference between each symptom as well as the difference in treatment approaches.

摘要

Functional neurological disorder may present with different symptom semiology, one of which resembles chronic tics. These functional tic-like behaviors (FTLBs) have specific clinical features that allow for their distinction from chronic tics, even in patients who present with comorbid chronic tics and FTLBs. Treatment of FTLBs starts with prompt identification and differentiation of FTLBs from chronic tics so that the patient can understand the difference between each symptom as well as the difference in treatment approaches.
