Treatments for sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) represent a challenge for interdisciplinary teams due to its varied and complex etiology. Among the treatment options developed over the years, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) remains the first choice for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Despite its proven benefits, adherence remains low, either due to difficulty in acceptance or possible immediate side effects. Orofacial myofunctional therapy (OMT) has emerged as a promising alternative and adjuvant treatment for SDB in adults and children, isolated or in combination with other first-choice treatments, offering a noninvasive approach to address underlying problems that contribute to airway obstruction or to the effectiveness of other therapies. This chapter explores the principles, techniques, and considerations in the context of OMT combined with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP).

摘要
