Racial Formations in Czechia

From a global perspective, scholarship on racerace and racial formations has proliferated but in Czechia this is a topic which is still very much in its infancy. There is a general lack of public engagement and research and widespread ‘colour-blindcolour-blind’ ideology. This chapter focuses on racial formations in Czechia, discussing local particularities alongside the global hierarchy of race and white domination. Engaging with Critical Race TheoryCritical Race Theory and local approaches to the study of race, we lay the foundations for a better understanding of the empirical findings of this book and the current state of race politicsracerace politics in relation to people of African background in Czechia.
