The development of psychological workforce literacy has been proposed as an important goal for psychology programs to ensure that graduates of psychology degrees are able to smoothly transition into employment. Innovations in the design of three-year psychology degrees are being scaffolded by the Australian Indigenous Psychology Education Project frameworks, the updated APA Guidelines for the Undergraduate Psychology Major Version 3.0, and the development of the International Competencies for Undergraduate Psychology. Current developments that will assist and improve psychological workforce literacy include the freely available Australian Handbook for Careers in Psychological Science, the Revised Test of Psychological Literacy (TOPL-R), and the increasing use of advanced algorithms to provide analysis of the suitability of employment opportunities for psychology graduates. The prospects for undergraduate psychology students are greatly improved in a competitive and dynamic world of work although a major review of the psychology training pathway may impact significantly on the diversity of careers being pursued.
