In this book, Chaps. 2–6 build up from the basic concepts presented in Chap. 1. In this chapter some final remarks are then presented, drawn from the research on pollutants transport in rivers and estuaries performed by the authors for over 15 years, pointing out also future trends that are to be faced, first in the model formulation and solution of Direct Problems, and finally in the Inverse Problems techniques that can be used to estimate parameters and functions of interest in environmental studies.
