Introduction: But Why Liberia, Though?
摘要
This introductory chapter frames the book through my positionality as a Ghanaian interested in a Liberian identity question. In it, I explain and narrate how my social positioning influenced the coming into being of this book, and seeks to locate you, the reader, as my learning companion as I articulate settler colonialism to be the particular mode of domination that underpinned Liberia’s formation in 1822 and political development following the declaration of independence in 1847.
