Groundwater is an essential natural resource that provides drinking water worldwide. It occurs naturally in the Earth’s subsurface, which is stored mainly in the aquifers. Due to overuse, groundwater is depleted, and water pollution threatens all life. Safeguarding groundwater is crucial to ensure its availability. Conservation efforts such as reducing water usage and recharging aquifers have led to sustainable water management. Recently, personal computers and space technology for land and water management have integrated contour mapping, watersheds, remote sensing (RS), geographic information systems (GIS), and Artificial intelligence (AI). These techniques have fundamentally changed our thoughts on managing natural resources and groundwater management. The spatial variations in the groundwater distribution in arid areas can be studied using topology, GIS, and AI techniques. Estimating water sources, spatial distribution, and mapping of groundwater hotspots by using the above technologies is promising. The info-maps for all the area specifications can be prepared using the Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) interpolation technique of GIS. The established spatial database would help monitor and manage groundwater levels to apply efficient recharge techniques in the study area. Protecting groundwater is of global concern, and humans need to sustain it.
