Interactive Learning in Fashion Design Education: Enhancing Creativity and Engagement with AI

In the rapidly evolving landscape of fashion design education, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to foster creativity and engagement among students is becoming essential. The interaction between learners and instructors is pivotal in interactive learning environments, aiming to enrich the student learning experience and elevate learning outcomes. This study used a mixed-methods approach with pre- and post-test assessments and a 12-question survey administered prior to and after the intervention, utilizing a 5-point Likert scale, to evaluate the impact of AI integration on student creativity and engagement. The data were analyzed using paired samples t-tests to demonstrated the effectiveness of pedagogy. The participants were 31 students majoring in fashion design or taking the course as an elective. AI tools were integrated into the course curriculum, allowing the students to explore innovative design solutions and receive real-time feedback from instructors. The results indicated significant improvements between the pre- and post-tests, highlighting the effectiveness of AI in enriching students’ learning experiences in fashion and textile design within an interactive learning environment. The students’ feedback revealed that AI tools significantly enhanced their work, offering new perspectives and enhancing their design capabilities. The AI tools also strengthened the interaction between learners and instructors, fostering a more collaborative and responsive learning environment. This study highlights the transformative potential of AI in fashion design education and provides practical recommendations for educators on leveraging technology to optimize classroom dynamics and student outcomes.
