The paper discusses the questions: What role does business play in modern Arctic exploration? What contribution can business make to Arctic exploration and development? Is the experience of foreign Arctic countries in the field of CSR applicable to Russian practice? Is it possible to talk about a Russian model of CSR in the Arctic? What are its peculiarities? To answer these questions, the author analyses the Arctic community’s experience in CSR at the regional (in the activities of the Arctic Council and the Arctic Economic Council) and national levels, identifying three national models of CSR in the Arctic: North American, North European and Russian ones. Based on an analysisAnalysis of CSR models of Western Arctic countries, the author concludes that RussiaRussia is forming its own CSR model. The author examines the experience of Russian companies in the field of CSR, identifies the problems faced by Russian business in the economic development of the Arctic and defines the key features of CSR practices of Russian businessBusiness in the AZRFArctic Zone of the Russian Federation (AZRF). The author concludes that the Russian CSR model is ‘mixed’ in nature, where the stateState participates in solving the most significant social projects and the rest is solved through public–private partnerships between the state and companies, as well as subsidies to non-governmental organisations running socially significant projects. Nevertheless, the Russian CSRCorporate Social Responsibility (CSR) model is based on the global guidelines on social responsibility developed by the UN and other international organisations and the principles of sustainable developmentSustainable Development (SD).
