The article analyzes the environmental practicesEnvironmental practices of young people (aged 17–25 years old) in St. Petersburg and their contribution to the strategic goals of sustainable developmentSustainable Development (SD) of the region. Environmental practicesEnvironmental practices as forms of environmental behavior are included in the lifestyle of young people and form preferences in the choice of tourist destinations and products. It is noted that ecotourismEcotourism is supported mainly by young people. This is due to the opening of opportunities for self-development and the implementation of various types of activity, which is expressed in new directions of recreational activitiesRecreational activities and changes the geography of travel. The purpose of the study is to analyze the environmental practices common among the youthYouth ecotourism of St. Petersburg and their relationship with the choice of environmental trends and formats of ecotourismEcotourism by young people. Based on the analysisAnalysis of the research results using survey methods, the types of everyday environmental practices of young people, priorities for recreation and leisure, containing an environmental component, are identified. A new format of a tourist product, in which young people are interested, is an eco-hotelEco-hotel, the functional characteristics of which include both the provided environmentally oriented services and reputational aspects of the development of the tourismTourism sector, events, and educational forms of activity. The problem of taking into account the readiness of young people to actively participate in the formation and implementation of the environmental policyPolicy of the regionEnvironmental policy of the region is raised. It is concluded that the mutual influence of environmental practicesEnvironmental practices and ecotourismEcotourism, in which young people are increasingly involved, contributes to the main goal of sustainable developmentSustainable Development (SD)minimizing the negative impact of humans on the environment.
