Russia’s Policy on the Study and International Popularization of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Finno-Ugric Peoples

In the modern conditions of the formation of a multipolar world orderWorld order, traditional values and ethnocultural characteristics of various countries and peoples are acquiring extreme relevance. They influence the formation of the sovereignty of statesState, becoming a factor of direct influence on their internal stability. Currently, there are trends toward downplaying the importance of national value systems, politicizing cultureCulture, and using it as a tool to influence international relationsInternational relations and international conflicts. RussiaRussia has long been a multinational country. Finno-Ugric peoplesFinno-Ugric peoples play an important role in its historyHistory, culture, and the formation of ethnocultural identityIdentity. The aim of the article is a comprehensive study of Russia’s policyPolicy on the study and international popularization of the intangible cultural heritageHeritage of the Finno-Ugric peoples. The scientific work of the branch of the State Russian House of Folk Art named after V. D. Polenov “Finno-Ugric Cultural Center of the Russian Federation” was comprehensively analyzed. The novelty of the study lies in the introduction into scientific circulation of new, previously unpublished information characterizing the policy of Russia in the sphere of international popularization of the intangible cultural heritage of the Finno-Ugric peoples. The authors also assessed the significance of this policy in building interethnic and international relationsInternational relations with neighboring states. The authors come to the conclusion that the need to popularize the intangible cultural heritageIntangible cultural heritage of the Finno-Ugric peoplesFinno-Ugric peoples is dictated by both the current international situation in general and relations with some statesState bordering RussiaRussia.
