This chapter examines key pedagogical approaches to group work in higher education, analysing six frameworks: Cooperative Learning, Collaborative Learning, Problem-Based Learning, Experiential Learning, Sociocultural Theory, and Critical Pedagogy. Each model, rooted in distinct theories, offers flexible structures for collective inquiry and knowledge construction. The chapter distinguishes cooperative from collaborative learning, highlighting differences in structure, accountability, teacher roles, and student agency. Comparative analysis shows that each approach supports unique goals, from content mastery to critical consciousness. Attention is also given to formal-informal and structured-unstructured dimensions, underscoring their role in group dynamics and equity. Ultimately, intentional, research-informed design ensures group work achieves meaningful and transformative learning outcomes.
