This first chapter introduces readers to Decolonizing Bodies where processes of racialization are seen as the root source of human disconnection from each other and their world. Racialization processes are seen as colonial processes of power on which the ongoing project of extraction and exploitation relies in late global capitalism. It is an introduction to, on the one hand, the radical relational approach that stresses the co-creation of our existence in relationality with the world, and on the other, to the decolonial approach that sees late global capitalism and modernity as dependent on ongoing coloniality. Decolonizing Bodies looks at late global capitalism’s impulses to disconnect people from embodied awareness of our entanglement with each other and with the world and relies on such disconnection for purposes of dispossession, exploitation, and extractivism.

摘要
