This work describes developing and implementing an interactive augmented reality (AR) testing environment to generate and visualize digital elevation models (DEMs) in real time. The system integrates depth measurement with enhanced projection onto a sandbox surface, enabling dynamic interpretation. Its use has demonstrated numerous advantages in education, hydrological process modeling, and geographic research. The technical, pedagogical, and practical aspects that position this tool as a standard solution for teaching and research in geography are discussed in this paper.
