The Biodiversity Crisis and Recovery Efforts for Threatened Species
摘要
This chapter provides an overview of the concepts of biodiversity, threats, and management of threatened and endangered species. This chapter begins with an introduction to the topic of biodiversity in Mexico and the causes of its loss. It continues with an introduction to the management of species at risk of extinction, and the Mexican regulations that exist around them for their protection. This chapter includes a description of the different ways of assessing the risk of extinction of species, and the problems that arise from the lack of information about these species of interest. Finally, management strategies for the conservation and use of these species in the context of Mexico are analyzed.
