Mapping Climate Change Awareness Among Students in Kerala: Educational Strategies for Resilience

Climate changeClimate change is an urgent global challenge that demands localized responses tailored to regional contexts and populations. In KeralaKerala, a state along India’s south-western coast with distinctive geographical and ecological characteristics, understanding public awareness is crucial for designing effective climate action. This study investigates the level of climate change awareness among students across Kerala’s fourteen districts, employing a spatial analysis approach to identify patterns and variations in their perceptions. The research examines factors influencing awareness, including educational exposure, socio-economic background, and regional vulnerability to climate impacts. Findings reveal significant disparities in awareness levels, highlighting critical areas where climate education requires strengthening. The study underscores the importance of integrating localized climate education into curricula and suggests actionable strategies for building resilienceResilience among students, who represent future agents of change.
