Empowering Women and Children in Coastal Communities: Enhancing Tsunami Preparedness and Resilience Through Gender-Responsive Disaster Management

Through a mixed method which consists of literature review, case studies, and an evaluation of current interventions, this study highlights the unique challenges faced by women and children during tsunami events. It assesses the effectiveness of existing initiatives, like the Indian Tsunami Early Warning SystemTsunami Early Warning Systems (TEWS) (ITEWS) in addressing these vulnerabilities. The paper concludes with actionable recommendations for integrating gender-responsive approaches into disaster managementDisaster management frameworks, fostering community engagement and leveraging innovative technologies to improve resilienceResilience in coastal communitiesCoastal communities.
