A Method to Optimally Discover the Controller Locations in Software-Defined Networks
摘要
In this paper, we have shown a method for placing multiple controllers in a network. It is based on the minimization of distances between the controllers and the switches. The location of the controller has been found in a way that the sum of distances between these said switches will have a minimum distance by balancing the switch loads. Our method mainly focused on distributing an almost equal number of switches among controllers to balance the load, improve fault tolerance, and optimize the average switch-to-controller (NC) latency. We have compared our results with K-Means clustering algorithm and found that our method always generates a consistent result of the average NC latency, accompanied by reduced load disbalance and a lower coefficient of variation.
