The Arduino concept of open source hardware was developed by the visionary Arduino team of Massimo Banzi, David Cuartilles, Tom Igoe, Gianluca Martino, and David Mellis in Ivrea, Italy. The team’s goal was to develop a line of easy-to-use microcontroller hardware and software such that processing power would be readily available to everyone.
