This chapter explores the role of the digital media outlet La Derecha Diario (LDD) in shaping public opinion during the 2023 Argentine presidential campaign, focusing on its far-right ideology and opposition to progressive gender movements. The study investigates how LDD’s content, including news articles and social media posts, amplifies the ideas of the Freedom Advances (LLA) political coalition led by Javier Milei. The analysis highlights LDD’s dissemination of anti-feminist and anti-gender narratives that reject progressive policies like comprehensive sex education, gender identity recognition, and abortion rights. It characterizes LDD’s coverage as promoting traditional gender roles, delegitimizing feminist movements, and portraying transgender individuals as threats to societal norms. The media outlet also criticizes state-funded gender-related initiatives, framing them as unnecessary expenditures driven by ideological agendas. Methodologically, the chapter examines LDD’s editorial stance and its impact on public discourse through qualitative content analysis of its articles and posts. The findings indicate that LDD fosters a polarized political climate and supports reactionary narratives by distorting information, undermining feminist advancements, and promoting traditionalist perspectives. The chapter concludes that LDD’s ideological alignment with LLA contributed to the latter’s political rise, emphasizing the media’s power in legitimizing conservative discourses and challenging progressive gender norms in Argentina.
