Aristada®, a prodrug of aripiprazole, acts as a partial agonist at the dopamine D2 and serotonin-1A receptor and as an antagonist at the serotonin-2A receptor. Enzyme-mediated hydrolysis converts aripiprazole lauroxil to N-hydroxymethyl aripiprazole, which is then hydrolyzed to aripiprazole (Cruz, P T 41:556–559, 2016). This chapter provides clinical pearls on how to appropriately prescribe and administer Aristada®.
