Long-acting injectable (LAI) antipsychotic medications have increasingly been used in special populations for their potential to improve adherence and reduce relapses. While the use of LAIs increases, the evidence supporting their use in pediatric, older, and pregnant individuals is still sparse. Clinical recommendations are based on smaller bodies of evidence. This evidence will be reviewed in this chapter, with expert recommendations on when and how to consider their use in this population.
