The creation of the universe occurred with a “big bang” that started everything in motion. The universe has continued to be in motion since that beginning. Within our universe, the earth we live on is revolving around the sun and rotating on its axis. Thus having something in motion is a very common situation. Because if this, it is important that we know how to understand and describe the properties of motion. Some of the themes of the chapter are represented in Fig. 1.1.
