AI-Driven Prediction Models, Image Analysis, and Computer-Assisted Diagnosis in Acute Care Surgery
摘要
Artificial intelligence (AI) involves processing and interpreting intricate information and identifying connections and patterns among complex data. AI and machine learning (ML) algorithms have the potential to improve surgical decision-making and patient outcomes. Over the last years, different studies have demonstrated AI’s utility in helping surgeons recognize anatomy or predict treatment outcomes. AI may potentially provide essential assistance in acute care surgery. In emergency and trauma surgery, the diagnosis and treatment of many surgical conditions are guided by well-defined management protocols based on international guidelines. On the other hand, acute care diseases often require prompt intervention. As AI can process a large volume of complex information in a short time, this could be a major advantage in this area of surgery. Consequently, AI is rapidly transforming the field of critical care surgery, providing new avenues for enhancing patient outcomes, improving surgical efficiency, and supporting clinical decision-making.
