Building Energy Codes and Certification
摘要
Building energy codes have been proven to be effective and efficient for building decarbonization. However, these are not without their limitations. There are increasing studies particularly in developed countries on how to best address these challenges. Interestingly, the situation is stark different in most developing countries. These countries are still in the early stages of developing policies and frameworks for building energy certification. Whilst some do not even have any in place. In addition to the above, there are an array of challenges impeding the uptake and use of building energy certification. In this chapter, the various building energy certification is examined. Thereafter, the challenges to the implementation are elucidated. Synthesizing these challenges across the various developing countries, five pathways are advanced for the successful implementation of building energy certification. Policymakers will glean useful lessons and steer clear of avoidable pitfalls.
