The Technological Canoe
摘要
The dugout canoe offers affordances and imposes constraints on mobility. It is therefore important to appreciate the canoe as a technology before addressing its role in the Warraus’ engagement with their landscape. The canoe is part of a technological complex that includes a variety of morphologies, design and construction methods and skills, methods and techniques of propulsion, care, repair, and maintenance, and construction labor and its organization. Increasingly, landscape engagement in Imbotero is also influenced by other types of watercraft, which are described briefly.
