Lower Imbotero Creek constitutes the core of the village, where most of its homes and institutional entities are located. All are connected by water and by a network of consanguineous and affinal family relationships that encompasses most individuals in the village, making the creek not only a village common, but also a place of family interaction. The structure and layout of the homes, churches, and the school are described within the framework of the village’s maritime cultural landscape, along with the geographic relationships between the lower creek, the upper creek area where much of the village’s economic activity occurs, and the Barima River.
