Across Europe, and particularly in Portugal, higher education institutions (HEIs) have increasingly turned to digital and hybrid modalities to address the demands of a diversified student body and an evolving professional landscape. While existing studies have largely focused on public HEIs, limited attention has been devoted to the private sector. This study aims to map the current state of digital education in Portuguese private HEIs, within the framework of relevant national and European policy instruments. Drawing on data collected from an online survey sent to institutional leaders of private HEIs, the research explores institutional positioning on digital transformation, adopted pedagogical methodologies, strategies for teacher professional development, student support mechanisms, and deployed technologies. Emphasis is placed on institutional leadership, pedagogical innovation, internationalization strategies, and the expansion of educational offerings to new audiences. The findings, based on a sample comprising a total of 38 private HEIs in Portugal, offer a critical and contemporary analysis of the digital education landscape in Portuguese private higher education, providing insights to inform the development of sustainable, inclusive, and high-quality educational policies and practices.

摘要
