Exploring Digital Systems within Engineering Learning Environments
摘要
Technology offers a variety of resources that can be applied to teaching, benefiting the entire education system. We will present two tools designed for learning and teaching mathematics: the MathCityMap system (outdoor system) and the ASYMPTOTE system (indoor system). Both systems have two components, a Web portal to create tasks, a smartphone application to play, and a Digital Classroom that allows the teacher to virtually simulate a class and monitor the students’ work and progress in real time. In the Digital Classroom, students can interact with the teacher. These systems fulfill the demands of online and distance education through the use of smartphones and were designed for the educational environment but can be used in different contexts, for example, in companies and decision-making. An activity in which the MathCityMap system was used by secondary school students and an exploratory study with higher education students on the use of the ASYMPTOTE system are reported.
