Nowadays, the metaverse represents a disruptive technology that companies are increasingly integrating into their business models, particularly in human resource management. One of the most promising aspects of its adoption concerns knowledge management, as virtual environments can enhance collaboration, knowledge sharing, and training. However, despite its recognized potential, the metaverse can also generate conflicts among employees, which may negatively impact organizational dynamics. Virtual interactions differ significantly from traditional face-to-face communication, potentially leading to misunderstandings, power imbalances, and increased tensions among team members. This paper explores this “dark side” of the metaverse by focusing on conflict management within virtual teams. To investigate this phenomenon, a case study methodology was adopted, which is particularly suitable for analyzing contemporary and emerging topics. Specifically, the study examines relevant cases of innovative companies that have implemented metaverse-based solutions in their operations. The findings highlight key challenges in managing team conflicts within virtual environments and provide valuable insights into mitigating such tensions. Moreover, the study offers practical implications for HR managers and IT specialists, outlining strategies to foster a more effective and conflict-resilient virtual workspace. By addressing these challenges, organizations can better harness the full potential of the metaverse while minimizing its risks.

摘要
