“I Felt As Low as I Ever Had in My Adult Life”: The Impact of the Pandemic on Parents’ and Children’s Health
摘要
This chapter is situated in the context of wider literature on families and health over time and considers the impact of the pandemic on parents’ physical and mental health, and the coping mechanisms they used to navigate challenges in these areas. The chapter draws on some of the findings of Chaps. 2, 3, 4 and 5, discussing the specific effects on the health of parents and children through different life events, education and leisure time in the unique circumstances of the pandemic, as well as challenges faced by parents with accessing ongoing healthcare for themselves and their children during the pandemic. Consideration is also given to parents’ perspectives on how the pandemic has affected the physical and mental health of their children.
